Due to some circumstances, Kevin joined this session from a Cafe, while we have a live audience in recording this session from a YouTube Livestream!
I forgot to mention it during the actual podcast, but a huge massive thankyou and shoutout to /u/bakingpy for his donation last week! It is really appreciated, and helps explain why Kevin had to get completely soaked during this episode.
We talk about:
Zorb's Charity Raffle results.
Idea23/Busgamer's Sculptors casting service
More Dye-Sub competition on the market
Self-proclaimed #1 fan appearing on TopClack
Some Group Buys/updates
EU meetup (First release of the actual date!)
More community awesomeness with helping a Quadraplegic decide what switches are good options.
Plus touching on a Modern Handwired guide,
Questions from our Ask Us Anything sheet (which you can still go to and ask! https://goo.gl/forms/jAjTUvKPnNUQHRnO2)
And our usual shinanigans.
Hope you enjoy!
Re: TheModern Handwired Guide discussion... The reliability engineer suggested that the wire loops and soldering connections were too close to the diode body. That was pretty much it. This issue can be readily mitigated by looping the leads a little further away from the diode body and extending the connection to the 'bus' wires a little further out. Otherwise, it's a perfectly reliable construction. Constructing diode interconnect bus by soldering the diode leads together is also perfectly acceptable although I personally don't like to use long stretches of insulated wires.
